Forget GOALS! They can hurt you real bad.

Man in his best years (you know, for men the best years last and last and last). Writer, beer drinker, interested in anything cool and nothing whatsoever.
One of the biggest motivation killer is seeing your plans go to hell, you not getting closer to your goals and when you look at the big picture, things aren't moving at all. Can you still keep your enthusiasm and motivation intact in this situation?

Imagine a goal like owning an empire of some sort. And what you have right now is a small one-man company, if even that. You work day by day, day by day, maybe things change, but the only thing in your mind is the fact that you haven't really moved closer to your big-big main goal. And then it happens, you get a bit depressed, lose your motivation and enthusiasm, and work less and less efficiently, making you end up even further from your big-big goals. And you lose your belief that you can ever achieve the goal at all.

And that's the problem with big goals. Unless you have a REALLY STRONG faith in it, so strong that it's really impossible to lose that, failures are not a problem. But it's not easy to keep faith in problematic situations. And there always will be problematic situations for all of us, at one point or another.

And failure to realize the goal you have set, time after time, leads to more and more disappointment. Disappointment to depression, depression to losing the enthusiasm which leads to losing your entire motivation and faith, and finally everything you had in the beginning. Okay, yes, that's a very negative look at it, but it's the point that matters. Don't let the too big goals hurt you. Instead, work every day as if there were no huge goals ahead that you need to achieve. Set a daily goal. For example. Work-wise, income-wise, date-wise, or whatever it is you're looking to do. And make sure the daily goal is definitely achievable, if done right.

Achieving your small goals give you the self-confidence and stronger faith (in yourself) that later CAN help you achieve pretty much anything you want.
